New Psychology Building at Solihull 6th Form College opened by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of West Midlands Derrick Anderson CBE
Solihull Sixth Form College's ambitious expansion took a giant leap forward on January 6th with the unveiling of the Turvey Building. This impressive addition, constructed in a mere seven months, will immediately accommodate 400 new learners, a testament to the efficiency of TG Escapes' innovative modular building approach.
The Turvey Building, named in tribute to long-serving educator Malcolm Turvey, was celebrated with an official opening ceremony graced by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of West Midlands, Derrick Anderson CBE. It will now be home to the college's thriving A-Level Psychology department, boasting eight brand-new classrooms, dedicated office space, and modern amenities. TG Escapes delivered a sustainable, design that achieved net-zero operation. This commitment to environmental responsibility, supported by funding from the Department of Education and the Summit Learning Trust, reflects the college's forward-thinking approach to education and aligns with the Trust's "Tread Lightly" initiative. With features like solar power, LED lighting, and air source heat pumps, the Turvey Building is a shining example of how educational institutions can thrive while minimizing their environmental impact.
His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of West Midlands Derrick Anderson CBE said: “The new facility represents a major commitment to innovation and sustainability as well as a stunning environment in which to learn. His Majesty takes a keen interest in sustainable developments in the face of climate change and for that reason I am honoured to be part of the opening ceremony and to support the initiative taken by the college.”
