Managing Director
We're a UK modular eco-building company, creating bespoke timber-frame spaces for schools and businesses since 2003. From the first sketch to the final handover, you'll have one friendly team by your side.
4.9TG Escapes was founded in 2003 by Richard Harvey, who still leads our team today. We began by building sustainable, attractive garden offices, but our buildings quickly grew in size and ambition as we moved into education.
Today we design and build everything from standalone SEND classrooms to two-storey blocks, working with schools right across the country. We cover the whole of the UK from our base in Coventry, with over 900 buildings delivered, including more than 250 education buildings.
We’ve been trading for around 21 years now, and while our buildings have grown in scale, our purpose has stayed the same. We create sustainable, positive spaces, tailored to each client and designed to last for 50 years or more.
We look after every stage of your project ourselves. Our in-house architects shape the design, our own workshop in Coventry manufactures the timber frame and insulated cassette panels, and our own installation teams bring it all together on site. You’ll have a single point of contact throughout, and a fixed upfront price from the start.
The result is a permanent, bespoke timber-frame building, delivered faster than traditional construction because much of the work happens offsite, in parallel with your groundworks. Whether you’re a school working with us directly or a contractor or developer collaborating on a wider scheme, we make the journey feel manageable and reassuring.
Our buildings are constructed around timber frames and panelling, with all wood sourced from managed forests. Timber is a truly renewable resource that stores carbon throughout the life of a building, and our designs can achieve carbon neutral operation, helping to keep running costs low. As a company, we’re also working towards carbon neutrality through changes right across our business.
Biophilic design runs through everything we produce. By bringing in natural light, fresh air, views of greenery and easy access to the outdoors, we create calmer, healthier spaces. This connection to nature has a proven impact on concentration, stress and wellbeing, which matters enormously in a learning environment.
We make our commitments clear and we keep them, with a fixed upfront price and a turnkey service from planning to handover.
We create healthy, natural, low-carbon buildings that are good for the wellbeing of the people who use them and kinder to the environment.
We treat clients and colleagues with genuine warmth and care, so you always feel supported and in safe hands.
We hold ourselves to exacting quality standards, which is why our work has been recognised at the MMC Awards.
